EYE EXAMS
To your eye doctor, your eyes are windows to your overall health. Many illnesses show early signs in the eyes, and many diseases can affect your vision. While you're being examined, your eye doctor will look for signs of:
Of course, an eye examination cannot take the place of a general examination by your medical doctor. However, your eyes may reveal more about your health than you know.

LASIK
Reagan Eye Center has the newest and most advanced FDA-approved LASIK system in the United States. The ALLEGRETTO WAVE™ Eye-Q, made by WaveLight Inc., delivers the fastest laser vision correction treatment available today. Reagan Eye Center is the first clinic in the Ellis County area to acquire this advanced new platform.
With the Eye-Q system, the average treatment time for correcting nearsightedness is between just 10 and 12 seconds. Very short treatment times have shown to reduce healing time while decreasing the risk of post-operative infections, over- corrections and under-corrections. In addition, patient comfort significantly increases as the need to focus during the procedure is significantly shortened.
The Eye-Q is a next generation system featuring WaveLight’s proprietary PerfectPulse TechnologyTM to ensure maximum safety at high speed. PerfectPulse Technology was specifically developed to monitor and control each laser pulse that is delivered to the eye. The most important component of this technology is the high speed eye-tracking device which monitors eye movement 400 times per second and adjusts the laser beam accordingly in only 4-6 milliseconds.
This unique LASIK platform has been shown to preserve the natural shape of the cornea and prevent the induction of optical errors that could lead to night vision problems or loss of contrast sensitivity (the ability to see the images crisply).
”Superior vision following the LASIK procedure is dependent not only the surgeon’s experience but also on the technology used to deliver the treatment,” Dr. Reagan added. “In addition to our 14 years of experience performing refractive surgery, we are excited to bring the most advanced LASIK platform to our clinic and especially to our area. We believe our patients will benefit from the highest level of safety and precision possible while achieving spectacular visual outcomes.”

CATARACT SURGERY
Great advances have been made in cataract surgery. Millions of people undergo this vision-improving procedure every year with excellent results.
For patients, it's a simple operation. A tiny incision is made in the eye. Through this incision, the surgeon inserts an instrument about the size of a pen tip. The surgeon will use a device, which uses gentle pulses of liquid to wash away the cloudy lens, or an ultrasonic instrument that breaks up and gently removes the cloudy lens.
Once the clouded lens has been removed, the next step is to replace it. That is, to implant an artificial lens that will do the work of your own lens. The artificial lens is referred to as an intraocular lens or IOL.
ReSTOR® LENS
Introducing a breakthrough in vision surgery: Now there's a revolutionary new way to potentially leave your glasses behind - introducing the AcrySof ® ReSTOR® intraocular lens, uniquely designed to improve vision at all distances - up close, far away and everything in between - giving cataract patients their best chance ever to live free of glasses.
GLAUCOMA THERAPY
Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve - the part of the eye that carries the images we see to the brain. The optic nerve is made up of many nerve fibers, like an electric cable containing numerous wires. When damage to the optic nerve fibers occurs, blind spots develop. These blind spots usually go undetected until the optic nerve is significantly damaged. If the nerve is destroyed, blindness results.
Early detection and treatment by your ophthalmologist are the keys to preventing optic nerve damage and blindness from glaucoma.
Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness in the United States, especially for older people. But loss of sight from glaucoma can often be prevented with early treatment.
CORNEAL TRANSPLANTS
Ophthalmologists perform more than 40,000 corneal transplants each year in the United States. Of all transplant surgery done today - including heart, lung, and kidney - corneal transplants are the most common and successful.
Dr. Reagan is one of the only doctors in the area that specializes in corneal transplants.
